Drivers get pounded daily by advertisements that claim the lowest prices from the likes of Progressive, Allstate and Geico. All the companies try to convey promises that people will save if you move to their company.
How does each company charge you less for auto insurance? This is the way they can do it.
All the different companies look for specific characteristics for the type of driver that makes them money. A good example of a preferred risk could possibly be over the age of 35, is a homeowner, and drives newer vehicles. A driver that meets those criteria will get a cheap rate quote and as a result will probably save a lot of money.
Potential insureds who are not a match for this ideal profile will be charged a higher premium which results in the customer not buying. The wording the ads use say “people who switch” not “everybody who quotes” can get the lowest rates when switching. That’s the way insurance companies can make the claims of big savings.
Because each company has a different risk profile, it’s extremely important to compare as many free auto insurance quotes as you can. It is impossible to predict the company that will give you the biggest savings.
Understanding the coverages of car insurance can be of help when determining which coverages you need for your vehicles. The coverage terms in a policy can be impossible to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. These are the normal coverages offered by car insurance companies.
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP reimburse you for bills such as dental work, X-ray expenses, surgery and funeral costs. They are often used to fill the gap from your health insurance plan or if there is no health insurance coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover you and your occupants and also covers if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal injury protection coverage is not available in all states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
This pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You need to pay your deductible first and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive insurance covers things such as damage from a tornado or hurricane, vandalism, damage from getting keyed and hitting a deer. The highest amount your car insurance company will pay is the cash value of the vehicle, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage provides protection from other drivers when they do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered losses include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as damage to your Mazda 626.
Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, their limits can quickly be used up. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is important protection for you and your family. Normally your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.
This protects you from injuries or damage you cause to a person or their property that is your fault. It protects YOU against claims from other people. It does not cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have values of 100/300/100 that translate to $100,000 bodily injury coverage, $300,000 for the entire accident, and a limit of $100,000 paid for damaged property. Alternatively, you may have a combined single limit or CSL which provides one coverage limit without having the split limit caps.
Liability insurance covers claims such as repair costs for stationary objects, loss of income, attorney fees and court costs. How much liability should you purchase? That is up to you, but you should buy higher limits if possible.
Collision coverage will pay to fix damage to your 626 caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. A deductible applies and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision coverage pays for claims such as scraping a guard rail, hitting a parking meter and hitting a mailbox. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from older vehicles. It’s also possible to bump up the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
When buying insurance coverage, make sure you don’t buy less coverage just to save a little money. In too many instances, someone sacrificed collision coverage only to find out that their decision to reduce coverage ended up costing them more. Your goal is to find the BEST coverage at the best price.
Lower-priced 1990 Mazda 626 insurance is possible on the web and with local insurance agents, so you need to quote auto insurance with both in order to have the best price selection to choose from. A few companies don’t offer internet price quotes and most of the time these smaller companies work with independent agents.

IT’S ALL TOO EXPENSIVE! Located in Fairbanks, Alaska. I got free rates from GEICO, AAA, and some I forget for my 626 and I think I am saving around $30 each month. Thankfully I have a good driving record. It’s still not cheap enough. I only have liability coverage on it.

Like your site, BTW. I live just to the east of Birmingham, AL. Don’t remember every company but I ended up saving about $10 each month. I get a discount for insuring multiple vehicles. Book value doesn’t justify full coverage anymore.
