When shopping for more affordable insurance, are you overwhelmed by the wide range of insurance coverage providers available to you? Many other drivers are too. There are so many options that it can easily turn into a lot of work to find lower rates.
Properly insuring your vehicles can get expensive, but you may find discounts to cut the cost considerably. Certain reductions will be credited at the time you complete a quote, but some discounts are required to be specifically requested before they will apply.
One thing to note about discounts is that many deductions do not apply the the whole policy. Most only reduce individual premiums such as collision or personal injury protection. Even though it may seem like you could get a free insurance policy, it’s just not the way it works. Any qualifying discounts will positively reduce the amount you have to pay.

Having a good grasp of your car insurance policy can help you determine which coverages you need for your vehicles. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
This coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as damage to your Chevy Astro.
Since many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Normally these limits are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Liability coverage can cover injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people. It protects you from legal claims by others, and does not provide coverage for your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Liability coverage has three limits: bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. Your policy might show liability limits of 100/300/100 which means a limit of $100,000 per injured person, a limit of $300,000 in injury protection per accident, and property damage coverage for $100,000. Another option is one limit called combined single limit (CSL) that pays claims from the same limit with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability can pay for claims like medical expenses, medical services and legal defense fees. How much coverage you buy is a personal decision, but buy as much as you can afford.
Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance kick in for immediate expenses such as prosthetic devices, rehabilitation expenses, X-ray expenses, surgery and doctor visits. They are used in conjunction with a health insurance program or if you are not covered by health insurance. Coverage applies to you and your occupants in addition to being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal injury protection coverage is not universally available but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Collision insurance pays for damage to your Astro resulting from colliding with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You will need to pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage pays for claims such as colliding with another moving vehicle, sustaining damage from a pot hole, driving through your garage door and sideswiping another vehicle. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are older. Drivers also have the option to increase the deductible to save money on collision insurance.
This will pay to fix damage from a wide range of events other than collision. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims like rock chips in glass, hail damage and theft. The most a car insurance company will pay at claim time is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Insureds change insurance companies for a number of reasons such as an unsatisfactory settlement offer, questionable increases in premium, unfair underwriting practices and delays in paying claims. It doesn’t matter what your reason, finding a great new company can be easier than you think.

Nice post. I’m from Anchorage, Alaska. I quoted with USAA, Amica, Liberty Mutual, and MetLife for my Chevrolet and saved around $100 a year. I get a discount for insuring multiple vehicles.

Good site, thanks. I’m from Las Vegas, Nevada. Received quotes with Allstate, The General, and Farmers for my 1991 Chevrolet Astro and saved just over $100 a year. It was easy to get rates. It’s too old for full coverage.

I found pretty cheap rate quotes for a 1991 Chevrolet Astro in Kansas City, KS. Ended up at darn near $70 every six months with Amica. Left Auto-Owners to switch. I don’t insure for physical damage though.
