Did you fall for a flashy sales pitch and buy an overpriced insurance policy? Trust us when we tell you there are a lot of people just like you who feel imprisoned by their insurance policy.
Big companies like State Farm, Allstate, Geico and Progressive increase brand awareness with advertising and it is challenging if not impossible to not get sucked in by the cute commercials and take the time to shop coverage around.
It’s a great practice to get comparison quotes periodically due to the fact that insurance prices change frequently. Even if you think you had the best deal on MPV insurance six months ago there may be better deals available now. Ignore everything you know about insurance because I’m going to let you in on the secrets to the best methods to find better coverage at a better price.
All major insurance companies give insurance quotes directly from their websites. Getting quotes is very simple as all you need to do is type in the coverages you want into the form. After you submit the form their quoting system will obtain credit information and your driving record and generates pricing information. Being able to quote online simplifies rate comparisons, but the work required to visit each company’s website and repetitively type in the same information can get tiresome after awhile. But it’s absolutely necessary to perform this step if you want to find better prices.
The easiest way to lower your rates uses one simple form that gets price quotes from more than one company. This type of form saves time, requires less work, and makes rate comparisons a little more enjoyable. After sending the form, it is rated with multiple companies and you can pick any one of the quotes returned. If you find a better price you can simply submit the application and buy the new coverage. The whole process takes less than 15 minutes and you’ll know if lower rates are available.
If you want to use this form to compare rates, click here and enter your information. To compare your current rates, we recommend you duplicate the coverage information as shown on your current policy. Doing this assures you will get an apples-to-apples comparison for the exact same coverage.
Insuring your fleet can be pricey, but you might already qualify for some discounts that can help lower your rates. Certain credits will be shown at the time of quoting, but a few must be specially asked for before you get the savings. If you’re not getting every credit you deserve, you are just wasting money.
We need to note that some of the credits will not apply to the entire cost. The majority will only reduce individual premiums such as liability, collision or medical payments. Even though it may seem like adding up those discounts means a free policy, insurance companies wouldn’t stay in business.

When choosing adequate coverage, there really is not a single plan that fits everyone. Each situation is unique so this has to be addressed. For instance, these questions may help you determine if your situation could use an agent’s help.
If you’re not sure about those questions but a few of them apply, you might consider talking to a licensed agent. To find an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier
Part of the insurance coverage buying process is learning some of the elements that play a part in calculating insurance coverage rates. When you understand what determines base rates, this empowers consumers to make smart changes that may reward you with lower rates. Many different elements are part of the equation when quoting car insurance. Some are obvious such as traffic violations, but some are not quite as obvious such as whether you are married or your financial responsibility.
Learning about specific coverages of your policy can help you determine appropriate coverage and the correct deductibles and limits. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and coverage can change by endorsement. Shown next are typical coverages offered by auto insurance companies.
Collision protection
Collision coverage covers damage to your MPV resulting from colliding with an object or car. You first must pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision coverage protects against claims such as colliding with a tree, rolling your car, crashing into a building, driving through your garage door and scraping a guard rail. This coverage can be expensive, so consider dropping it from older vehicles. It’s also possible to increase the deductible to bring the cost down.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage
This provides protection from other motorists when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and damage to your Mazda MPV.
Since a lot of drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is a good idea.
Comprehensive coverage
This coverage covers damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first have to pay a deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against claims like damage from a tornado or hurricane, a tree branch falling on your vehicle, damage from getting keyed, a broken windshield and hail damage. The highest amount you’ll receive from a claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Liability coverages
Liability insurance can cover damages or injuries you inflict on people or other property. This insurance protects YOU against other people’s claims, and doesn’t cover damage to your own property or vehicle.
Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. You commonly see limits of 25/50/25 which stand for a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a limit of $25,000 paid for damaged property.
Liability insurance covers claims such as medical expenses, court costs, loss of income and attorney fees. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a personal decision, but you should buy as large an amount as possible.
Medical payments coverage and PIP
Med pay and PIP coverage kick in for immediate expenses for things like funeral costs, ambulance fees and doctor visits. The coverages can be utilized in addition to your health insurance plan or if you do not have health coverage. They cover both the driver and occupants as well as being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP is only offered in select states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
Lower-priced insurance is attainable online in addition to many insurance agents, so you need to shop insurance with both in order to have the best chance of saving money. Some insurance companies may not have online quoting and many times these regional insurance providers provide coverage only through independent insurance agents.

Hope my rates come down. Live in the southern part of Kansas City, Kansas. Went online for free insurance quotes for a 1991 Mazda MPV. Ended up at about $110 savings annually. Went with 21st Century. Even increased coverage a bit. Just liability coverage since it’s getting old.

I’m looking for cheaper coverage. I live on the south side of Nashua, NH. Got prices from Hanover, Amica, MetLife, and a couple others for my MPV and I think I cut my rates about $20 each month. Book value doesn’t justify full coverage anymore.
