Looking for lower car insurance rates for your Dodge Caravan? Pretty sure you bought overpriced car insurance? It’s a common feeling and there are many consumers feeling the pinch from expensive car insurance.
Big-name insurance companies like Allstate, Progressive and Geico promote their brand names with ad campaigns and it is difficult to see past the geckos and flying pigs and do the work needed to find the best deal.
The quickest method we recommend to compare rate quotes is to take advantage of the fact auto insurance companies actually pay money for the chance to give rate comparisons. To get started, all you need to do is provide a little information including driver details, if you have an active license, how much coverage you want, and how many miles driven. Your insurance information is instantly provided to multiple top-rated companies and you get price estimates immediately.
Car insurance is not an enjoyable expense, but you might find some hidden discounts that many consumers don’t even know exist. Some of these disounts will be visible when you complete an application, but once in a while a discount must be specifically requested in order for you to get them.
Don’t be surprised that most discount credits are not given to the overall cost of the policy. Most only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as liability, collision or medical payments. So even though you would think it’s possible to get free car insurance, you aren’t that lucky.
A list of companies and the discounts they provide are shown below.
Before buying, ask each insurance company which discounts can lower your rates. Some of the earlier mentioned discounts might not be available to policyholders in your area. To see a list of providers who offer online car insurance quotes, click this link.
When it comes to choosing proper insurance coverage for your vehicles, there isn’t really a one size fits all plan. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s so this has to be addressed. These are some specific questions could help you determine if your situation will benefit from professional help.
If it’s difficult to answer those questions but you think they might apply to your situation, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed agent. To find an agent in your area, complete this form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier
Understanding the coverages of a car insurance policy can be of help when determining which coverages you need for your vehicles. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. Below you’ll find the usual coverages found on the average car insurance policy.
This coverage protects you and your vehicle when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants and also any damage incurred to your Dodge Caravan.
Since many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their limits can quickly be used up. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is a good idea. Most of the time these coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.
Comprehensive insurance coverage pays for damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. A deductible will apply and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims such as rock chips in glass, theft, damage from flooding, hitting a deer and a broken windshield. The highest amount your car insurance company will pay is the ACV or actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
This covers damage to your Caravan caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You will need to pay your deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision coverage pays for claims like crashing into a ditch, colliding with a tree, crashing into a building, hitting a parking meter and scraping a guard rail. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Drivers also have the option to choose a higher deductible to bring the cost down.
Liability insurance protects you from injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people by causing an accident. This coverage protects you from legal claims by others, and does not provide coverage for damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. Your policy might show liability limits of 50/100/50 which means $50,000 bodily injury coverage, a total of $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property. Occasionally you may see one limit called combined single limit (CSL) that pays claims from the same limit with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability coverage protects against claims like repair bills for other people’s vehicles, legal defense fees, structural damage, bail bonds and medical services. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance kick in for short-term medical expenses like funeral costs, prosthetic devices and EMT expenses. They can be used in conjunction with a health insurance plan or if you lack health insurance entirely. Coverage applies to not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and also covers if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP is only offered in select states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay

Just my two cents. I live in a small town just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. Compared quite a few companies. Saved right around $20 a month. State Farm was the best choice for me. Just go online and compare their rates. I just carry liability insurance.
