Trying to find better insurance rates for your Chevrolet Astro? Being forced to pay for overpriced insurance premiums can sap your savings and maybe even restrict other spending.
Drivers have many insurance companies to pick from, and although it’s a good thing to have multiple companies, lots of choices makes it harder to compare rates and find the lowest cost insurance.
It’s important to compare rates on a regular basis since prices change quite often. Just because you had the best deal on Astro insurance a few years ago other companies may now be cheaper. There are a lot of ways to save on insurance online but I’m going to show you a bunch of ideas how to lower your insurance bill.
Multiple criteria are used in the calculation when quoting car insurance. Most are fairly basic such as traffic violations, although others are less apparent such as whether you are married or your financial responsibility.
Listed below are a partial list of the pieces companies use to determine your rates.
Insuring your vehicles can cost a lot, but you can get discounts that you may not even know about. Some trigger automatically when you get a quote, but some must be asked about before they will apply.
As is typical with insurance, most credits do not apply to the entire policy premium. Some only apply to the price of certain insurance coverages like comprehensive or collision. If you do the math and it seems like you can get free auto insurance, you won’t be that lucky.
A partial list of companies that may have most of these discounts are:

When it comes to buying coverage, there isn’t really a perfect coverage plan. Every insured’s situation is different and a cookie cutter policy won’t apply. For instance, these questions may help you determine if your situation would benefit from professional advice.
If it’s difficult to answer those questions but one or more may apply to you, you may need to chat with a licensed agent. To find an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier
Understanding the coverages of a car insurance policy aids in choosing the right coverages for your vehicles. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and nobody wants to actually read their policy. Shown next are typical coverage types offered by car insurance companies.
Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance reimburse you for expenses for rehabilitation expenses, surgery and nursing services. They are often used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. Coverage applies to all vehicle occupants and will also cover if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal injury protection coverage is only offered in select states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
Comprehensive insurance
Comprehensive insurance coverage pays for damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims such as damage from flooding, hitting a bird and hail damage. The most you’ll receive from a claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Liability car insurance
Liability coverage can cover damage that occurs to other’s property or people. It protects you against other people’s claims, and doesn’t cover damage to your own property or vehicle.
Liability coverage has three limits: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. You commonly see policy limits of 25/50/25 which means a limit of $25,000 per injured person, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and a limit of $25,000 paid for damaged property. Alternatively, you may have one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which provides one coverage limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability can pay for things like funeral expenses, attorney fees and pain and suffering. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a decision to put some thought into, but consider buying as large an amount as possible.
Collision insurance
This will pay to fix damage to your Astro resulting from a collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage pays for claims like hitting a parking meter, sideswiping another vehicle, crashing into a building and hitting a mailbox. This coverage can be expensive, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are older. Another option is to increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM)
This gives you protection when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered claims include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and also any damage incurred to your Chevy Astro.
Since a lot of drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their limits can quickly be used up. So UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Frequently these coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.
As you quote insurance, never buy poor coverage just to save money. There are many occasions where drivers have reduced collision coverage only to regret at claim time they didn’t purchase enough coverage. Your aim should be to buy the best coverage you can find at the best price, but do not sacrifice coverage to save money.
Affordable 1994 Chevy Astro insurance can be sourced online and from local agencies, and you need to price shop both to get a complete price analysis. Some insurance companies do not provide price quotes online and these small insurance companies sell through independent insurance agencies.
We just showed you many ways to get a better price on 1994 Chevy Astro insurance. The most important thing to understand is the more providers you compare, the better chance you’ll have of finding cheap insurance. Consumers could even find that the biggest savings come from a smaller regional carrier. These companies may have significantly lower premium rates on certain market segments compared to the large companies like State Farm, Geico and Nationwide.
