1997 Ford Windstar Insurance Quotes

Want lower car insurance rates for your Ford Windstar? Did budget coverage turn out to be an underperforming, overpriced car insurance policy? Believe me when I say there are many people just like you. Because there are so many options when it comes to car insurance, it is very difficult to choose a lower cost insurance company.

Buying cheaper coverage is simple if you know the tricks. If you have a policy now or are looking for a new policy, you can use these tips to reduce the price you pay while maintaining coverages. Drivers just need to know the most effective way to buy insurance online.

Lower-cost car insurance rates with discounts

Not too many consumers would say car insurance is affordable, but you may qualify for discounts to reduce the price significantly. A few discounts will be applied when you get a quote, but a few must be inquired about prior to getting the savings.

  • Good Students Pay Less – Getting good grades may save you up to 25%. Most companies allow this discount well after school through age 25.
  • Multi-line Discount – Larger companies have a lower price if you buy a life policy as well.
  • Buy New and Save – Putting insurance coverage on a new car is cheaper since newer models have better safety ratings.
  • Accident-Free Discounts – Drivers who don’t have accidents pay less as opposed to accident-prone drivers.
  • Seat Belt Usage – Using a seat belt and requiring all passengers to use a seat belt can save up to 15% on the medical payments or PIP coverage costs.
  • No Charge for an Accident – but certain companies will allow you to have one accident without raising rates so long as you are claim-free for a set time period.

A quick disclaimer, some of the credits will not apply the the whole policy. Some only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as liability, collision or medical payments. If you do the math and it seems like you can get free auto insurance, it just doesn’t work that way.

Car insurance companies that have some of the discounts shown above include:

How to get free insurance coverage quotes online

Performing a rate comparison can be challenging if you don’t know the most efficient way. You can waste hours talking to insurance companies in your area, or you can utilize online quotes to maximize your effort.

Many of the larger companies are enrolled in a marketplace that enables customers to send in one quote, and each participating company provides a quote. This system prevents you from having to do form submissions for each company.

To participate in this free quote system, click here to open in new window.

The one disadvantage to pricing coverage this way is you are unable to specify which insurance companies you will receive quotes from. If you prefer to choose from a list of companies to compare rates, we have assembled a list of low cost insurance coverage companies in your area. Click to view list.

Which method you use is up to you, but make sure you are using nearly identical coverages and limits for each price quote. If you compare unequal deductibles or liability limits it’s not possible to make an equal comparison.

Tailor your insurance coverage to you

When buying the right insurance coverage, there really is no one size fits all plan. Every insured’s situation is different so this has to be addressed. Here are some questions about coverages that may help you determine if your situation would benefit from professional advice.

  • Do I benefit by insuring my home with the same company?
  • Does my 1997 Ford Windstar qualify for pleasure use?
  • Should I buy additional glass protection?
  • Does liability extend to a camper or trailer?
  • Am I covered when driving on a suspended license?
  • Does insurance cover damages from a DUI accident?

If you don’t know the answers to these questions, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed agent. If you don’t have a local agent, take a second and complete this form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier It’s fast, free and may give you better protection.

Coverages available on your auto insurance policy

Knowing the specifics of a auto insurance policy can help you determine appropriate coverage at the best deductibles and correct limits. Policy terminology can be ambiguous and reading a policy is terribly boring. These are the usual coverages found on most auto insurance policies.

Comprehensive auto insurance

Comprehensive insurance coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first must pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.

Comprehensive can pay for claims such as hail damage, hitting a deer, vandalism and rock chips in glass. The maximum payout you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the cash value of the vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.

Coverage for uninsured or underinsured drivers

Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle when the “other guys” do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered claims include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as damage to your Ford Windstar.

Since many drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, their limits can quickly be used up. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea. Usually these limits are similar to your liability insurance amounts.

Coverage for liability

Liability coverage provides protection from damages or injuries you inflict on other’s property or people by causing an accident. This insurance protects YOU from claims by other people, and doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.

It consists of three limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. You commonly see policy limits of 25/50/25 which means a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and property damage coverage for $25,000. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit which limits claims to one amount with no separate limits for injury or property damage.

Liability can pay for claims like structural damage, medical expenses, repair costs for stationary objects, loss of income and repair bills for other people’s vehicles. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a decision to put some thought into, but consider buying higher limits if possible.

Coverage for medical expenses

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage provide coverage for bills such as rehabilitation expenses, EMT expenses and dental work. They can be utilized in addition to your health insurance program or if there is no health insurance coverage. They cover not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal injury protection coverage is not universally available and may carry a deductible

Collision coverage

Collision insurance covers damage to your Windstar from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.

Collision can pay for things such as colliding with a tree, rolling your car and sustaining damage from a pot hole. This coverage can be expensive, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from older vehicles. Drivers also have the option to increase the deductible to save money on collision insurance.

One last thing about your coverage

As you prepare to switch companies, don’t be tempted to buy less coverage just to save a little money. In many cases, an insured cut collision coverage and found out when filing a claim that the small savings ended up costing them much more. The goal is to purchase plenty of coverage for the lowest price, but don’t skip important coverages to save money.

In this article, we covered a lot of information how to lower your 1997 Ford Windstar insurance car insurance rates. The key thing to remember is the more times you quote, the higher the chance of saving money. You may even find the lowest car insurance rates come from some of the lesser-known companies. Some small companies can often provide lower premium rates in certain areas than the large multi-state companies such as Progressive and Geico.
