Save on 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Insurance Rates

I can’t think of anyone who rejoices having to buy insurance, in particular when their premiums are through the roof.

Because there are so many options when it comes to insurance, it can be diffult for drivers to pick the most cost effective company.

Pricing affordable coverage is not that difficult. Basically, every vehicle owner who buys insurance coverage will most likely be able to save money. But car owners do need to learn how insurance companies market insurance on the web.

How to buy insurance online

Performing a rate comparison can take time and effort if you don’t understand the fastest way to get free quotes. You could spend your day talking to insurance companies in your area, or you could save time and use online quotes to get pricing more quickly.

Most of the best insurance companies belong to a marketplace where insurance shoppers only type in their quote data once, and every company returns a competitive quote for coverage. This system prevents you from having to do quotation requests for each company you want a rate for.

The only downside to pricing coverage this way is that you can’t choose the providers to get quotes from. So if you want to select specific providers for rate comparison, we have assembled a list of the cheapest insurance companies in your area. Click to view list.

It’s up to you how you get prices quotes, just make darn sure you compare nearly identical coverage limits and deductibles for each comparison quote. If each company quotes different values for each quote you will not be able to make a fair comparison for your Chevy S-10 Blazer. Just a small difference in coverages can make a big difference in price. And when comparing insurance rates, know that getting more free quotes increases your odds of finding lower pricing. Some smaller insurers to not give online rate quotes, so it’s recommended that you also compare price estimates from those companies as well.

Pay discount rates these discounts

Some companies don’t always list the complete list of policy discounts in an easy-to-find place, so here is a list both well-publicized in addition to some of the lesser obvious credits available to you.

  • Sign Online – A few larger online companies will give a small break for buying a policy and signing up online.
  • Student Discount for Driver Training – Teen drivers should enroll in driver’s education if it’s offered in school.
  • Discounts for Government Workers – Employees or retirees of the government can earn a discount up to 10% for S-10 Blazer coverage with certain companies.
  • Sign Early and Save – A few insurance coverage companies allow discounts for switching companies before your current policy expires. You may see this discount when you get auto insurance quotes online.
  • Multi-car Discount – Insuring primary and secondary vehicles with the same company can get a discount on all vehicles.

One last thing about discounts, many deductions do not apply to the overall cost of the policy. Most cut the price of certain insurance coverages like physical damage coverage or medical payments. Just because it seems like all the discounts add up to a free policy, insurance companies wouldn’t stay in business.

Some of the larger companies that have these money-saving discounts possibly include:

If you need lower rates, check with all companies you are considering which discounts they offer. Some credits might not be available to policyholders in every state. To locate insurers with significant discounts, click this link.

Special considerations

When it comes to buying the right insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no cookie cutter policy. Everyone’s situation is unique so this has to be addressed. For example, these questions may help you determine whether you may require specific advice.

  • Is a fancy paint job covered?
  • Am I covered if I crash into my own garage door?
  • How much liability insurance is required?
  • Do I really need UM/UIM coverage?
  • Do all my vehicles need collision coverage?
  • Is borrowed equipment or tools covered if stolen or damaged?
  • Do I have coverage when making deliveries for my home business?
  • How high should my uninsured/underinsured coverage be in my state?
  • Are rental cars covered under my policy?
  • Do I need replacement cost coverage?

If you’re not sure about those questions, you might consider talking to an insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or go to this page to view a list of companies.

Car insurance coverages 101

Learning about specific coverages of a car insurance policy can be of help when determining which coverages you need for your vehicles. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and coverage can change by endorsement. Shown next are the usual coverages offered by car insurance companies.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage

Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants from other drivers when they either have no liability insurance or not enough. Covered claims include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.

Since many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is important protection for you and your family. Most of the time your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.

Coverage for liability

Liability coverage will cover injuries or damage you cause to a person or their property in an accident. This coverage protects you against claims from other people. Liability doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.

Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. You commonly see policy limits of 100/300/100 that means you have $100,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Another option is one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which provides one coverage limit and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.

Liability can pay for things like funeral expenses, court costs, emergency aid, medical expenses and medical services. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as large an amount as possible.

Comprehensive coverage

Comprehensive insurance coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply then your comprehensive coverage will pay.

Comprehensive coverage pays for things such as rock chips in glass, vandalism and hail damage. The highest amount you’ll receive from a claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Medical payments coverage and PIP

Med pay and PIP coverage reimburse you for immediate expenses like prosthetic devices, dental work, chiropractic care, nursing services and rehabilitation expenses. They are used to fill the gap from your health insurance plan or if there is no health insurance coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants in addition to any family member struck as a pedestrian. Personal injury protection coverage is not universally available and may carry a deductible

Collision coverage protection

This covers damage to your S-10 Blazer resulting from colliding with an object or car. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.

Collision can pay for claims like sideswiping another vehicle, damaging your car on a curb, crashing into a building, driving through your garage door and hitting a mailbox. This coverage can be expensive, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. Drivers also have the option to bump up the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
