Looking for lower auto insurance rates for your Pontiac Grand Am? Feel like you have an expensive auto insurance policy? Trust us when we tell you you are not the only one feeling buyer’s remorse.
Multiple car insurance companies compete to insure your vehicles, so it can be very hard to choose a provider to find the lowest rate
Many things are taken into consideration when pricing auto insurance. Most are fairly basic such as your driving history, although some other factors are less obvious like where you live or how safe your car is.An important part of buying insurance is that you know some of the things that are used to determine the price you pay for car insurance. If you know what determines base rates, this helps enable you to make changes that will entitle you to cheaper rates.
Listed below are some of the most rate-impacting factors used by your company to calculate your rates.
Companies offering auto insurance don’t list every available discount in an easy-to-find place, so the list below gives a summary of some of the more common and also the lesser-known discounts that you may qualify for.
Don’t be surprised that some credits don’t apply to your bottom line cost. The majority will only reduce specific coverage prices like collision or personal injury protection. So despite the fact that it appears adding up those discounts means a free policy, you’re out of luck. Any amount of discount will cut the amount you have to pay.
The best insurance companies and some of the discounts can be found below.
It’s a good idea to ask each company how you can save money. Some of the earlier mentioned discounts might not be offered in your area. If you would like to see a list of companies that can offer you the previously mentioned discounts, follow this link.
When it comes to buying the best car insurance coverage, there is no single plan that fits everyone. Everyone’s situation is a little different so your insurance needs to address that. For instance, these questions may help highlight whether you would benefit from an agent’s advice.
If you’re not sure about those questions but you think they might apply to your situation then you might want to talk to a licensed agent. If you don’t have a local agent, complete this form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier
Learning about specific coverages of a car insurance policy helps when choosing the best coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. The terms used in a policy can be difficult to understand and reading a policy is terribly boring. Shown next are the usual coverages found on the average car insurance policy.
Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance reimburse you for bills like pain medications, EMT expenses, rehabilitation expenses, nursing services and dental work. They are used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance plan or if you lack health insurance entirely. It covers not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and will also cover if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP coverage is not available in all states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Collision insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You will need to pay your deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision can pay for claims such as backing into a parked car, sideswiping another vehicle, damaging your car on a curb and driving through your garage door. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so you might think about dropping it from lower value vehicles. You can also raise the deductible to bring the cost down.
This pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You need to pay your deductible first then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive can pay for things like damage from getting keyed, theft, rock chips in glass and a broken windshield. The maximum payout you’ll receive from a claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible consider dropping full coverage.
Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle from other drivers when they do not carry enough liability coverage. It can pay for injuries to you and your family as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since a lot of drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea. Most of the time the UM/UIM limits are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
This provides protection from damage or injury you incur to people or other property that is your fault. This insurance protects YOU against claims from other people, and does not provide coverage for damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Coverage consists of three different limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see policy limits of 100/300/100 which means $100,000 bodily injury coverage, a total of $300,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and $100,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Some companies may use one number which is a combined single limit that pays claims from the same limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability can pay for things like attorney fees, medical expenses, structural damage, pain and suffering and repair costs for stationary objects. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a personal decision, but consider buying as high a limit as you can afford.
Some insurance providers do not offer the ability to get quotes online and most of the time these regional insurance providers only sell through local independent agents. Cheaper 2000 Pontiac Grand Am insurance is attainable on the web and with local insurance agents, and you should compare rates from both to have the best selection.
As you shop your coverage around, do not skimp on critical coverages to save a buck or two. There are too many instances where someone sacrificed liability limits or collision coverage and discovered at claim time that their decision to reduce coverage ended up costing them more. Your goal should be to buy the best coverage you can find at an affordable rate and still be able to protect your assets.

Corporate greed I’m telling you. I’m just east of Jackson, MS. Quoted with State Farm, AAA, and Farmers for my Pontiac and am saving around $60 a year. Was with 21st Century. Get lots of quotes to find the best rate. I think I’ll get rid of full coverage next time.

Not sure what I should be paying. From Salt Lake City, Utah. I compared lots of rates. Saved darn near $20 a month. Progressive was the cheapest option for me. Have a couple speeding tickets too.

I’m just south of Rochester, MN. Quoted prices from MetLife, Esurance, Allstate, and AAA for my Grand Am and saved just over $100 a year. Got better coverage too. LOL Not worth enough to pay for comprehensive and collision.

If you have a good history and live around Aurora, IL, check out Allstate. They seem to be cheaper. Thankfully I have a good driving record. Online quotes are the way to go. Book value doesn’t justify full coverage anymore.

I’m in the north part of Eugene, Oregon. Got rates from AAA, Farmers, and Mercury for my Pontiac and saved around $100 a year. Left American Family to switch. Are quotes cheaper online?
