Cheap 2001 Pontiac Bonneville Insurance Rates

Trying to find better insurance prices for a Pontiac Bonneville could be a lot of work, but you can learn these tips to make it easier.

There are more efficient ways to find car insurance online and you need to know the quickest way to get price quotes for a Pontiac and get the lowest possible price from both online companies and local agents.

How to shop insurance coverage online

Performing a rate comparison can be a daunting task if you aren’t aware of the most efficient way. You could spend the better part of a day discussing policy coverages with insurance companies in your area, or you can stay home and use the internet to get prices fast.

Most major companies enroll in a system that enables customers to enter their coverage request one time, and each participating company can give them a price based on that data. This eliminates the need for quote forms for every insurance coverage company. To compare rates now click here to open in new window.

The one downside to getting quotes like this is that consumers can’t choose which insurance companies to get pricing from. If you would rather choose specific providers to compare rates, we have a page of companies who write insurance coverage in your area. Click here to view list.

Whichever way you choose to compare rates, be certain you are entering equivalent coverage data for each comparison quote. If each company quotes differing limits it will be very difficult to determine the lowest rate for your Pontiac Bonneville.

Insurance Coverage Discounts

Auto insurance companies don’t list their entire list of discounts very well, so we took the time to find some of the best known and also the more inconspicuous credits available to you. If they aren’t giving you every credit possible, you are not getting the best rate possible.

  • Student Discounts – Being a good student can get you a discount of up to 25%. Most companies allow this discount up until you turn 25.
  • Low Miles Discount – Driving less could be rewarded with lower premium rates on the low mileage vehicles.
  • E-sign Discounts</strong – Many insurance companies will give a small break shop auto insurance on the internet.
  • Anti-lock Brake System – Cars equipped with ABS or steering control can stop better under adverse conditions and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.
  • Service Members Pay Less – Being deployed with a military unit can result in better prices.
  • Federal Employees – Active or retired federal employment can save as much as 8% for Bonneville coverage with a few insurance coverage companies.
  • Distant Student – Kids who are enrolled in a college that is more than 100 miles from home and do not take a car to college may qualify for this discount.
  • Senior Citizen Rates – Drivers that qualify as senior citizens may receive a small discount on rates for Bonneville coverage.

Remember that most credits do not apply the the whole policy. Most only reduce specific coverage prices like physical damage coverage or medical payments. Just because you may think all the discounts add up to a free policy, nobody gets a free ride. But all discounts will positively reduce your overall bill.

Tailor your auto insurance coverage to you

When it comes to choosing proper insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is not a perfect coverage plan. Every situation is different.

For example, these questions may help you determine if you might need professional guidance.

  • Should I put collision coverage on all my vehicles?
  • Can I still get insurance after a DUI?
  • Am I covered when driving a rental car?
  • Should I buy additional glass protection?
  • I have good health insurance, so how much medical payments coverage do I need?
  • Do I need higher collision deductibles?
  • When would I need rental car insurance?
  • How much underlying liability do I need for an umbrella policy?

If you don’t know the answers to these questions, you may need to chat with an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, simply complete this short form. It is quick, free and you can get the answers you need.

Auto insurance specifics

Knowing the specifics of auto insurance can be of help when determining appropriate coverage for your vehicles. Policy terminology can be impossible to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording.

UM/UIM Coverage – Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when other motorists are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered claims include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.

Because many people only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Usually the UM/UIM limits are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.

Collision coverage – Collision insurance covers damage to your Bonneville resulting from a collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. A deductible applies then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision coverage protects against claims like hitting a mailbox, crashing into a building, scraping a guard rail, driving through your garage door and sustaining damage from a pot hole. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider removing coverage from lower value vehicles. You can also choose a higher deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Coverage for liability – Liability coverage protects you from damage or injury you incur to a person or their property. It protects you against other people’s claims, and doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.

Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. Your policy might show values of 50/100/50 that means you have a limit of $50,000 per injured person, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and a total limit of $50,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Alternatively, you may have one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which limits claims to one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.

Liability coverage pays for things like medical services, loss of income and attorney fees. How much liability should you purchase? That is up to you, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.

Medical costs insurance – Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance pay for short-term medical expenses for dental work, surgery, ambulance fees, doctor visits and funeral costs. They are used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. They cover you and your occupants as well as being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP coverage is not universally available but can be used in place of medical payments coverage

Comprehensive or Other Than Collision – This pays for damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive coverage pays for things like hail damage, a tree branch falling on your vehicle, vandalism and rock chips in glass. The maximum amount you’ll receive from a claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
