Trying to find the cheapest insurance rates for your Porsche 911? Are you sick and tired of not being able to scrape enough together to buy insurance? You are no different than many other drivers.

Because there are so many online and local companies to choose from, it’s nearly impossible to choose the cheapest insurance company.

Consumers need to do rate comparisons periodically because insurance prices tend to go up over time. If you had the best rate for 911 insurance on your last policy other companies may now be cheaper. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about insurance because you’re about to learn the tricks you need to know to reduce your cost while improving coverage.

Choosing the best insurance company for you is quite easy. Basically, anyone who is shopping for car insurance most likely will be able to find better rates. Although vehicle owners do need to know the way insurance companies market on the web and apply this information to your search.

How much does insurance cost?

When looking for inexpensive car insurance quotes, there are a couple ways to compare rate quotes from local insurance companies. The quickest method to find the cheapest Porsche 911 insurance rates consists of obtaining rate quotes online. This is very easy and can be done using a couple different methods.

The most efficient method to get quotes for comparison is to use a rate comparison form (click to open form in new window). This type of form eliminates the need for multiple quote forms for every prospective company. One simple form compares rates direct from many companies.

Another way to analyze rates requires you to visit each individual company website and fill out a new quote form. For sake of this example, we’ll assume you want to compare rates from Allstate, Geico and American Family. To get each rate you have to take the time to go to each site and repeatedly enter your information, and that’s why the first method is more popular.

The final way to find lower rates is making phone calls or going to local insurance agencies. Comparing rates online reduces the need to sit down with an agent unless you want the professional assistance that only an agent can give. You can, however, find lower rates online and have a local agent actually service the policy.

It’s up to you which method you use, but be sure to compare the same coverages and limits with each company. If you enter mixed coverages it will be very difficult to determine which company has the best rates. Having just a slight variation in coverage limits can make a big difference in price. It’s important to know that comparing more rates from different companies will improve the odds of getting more affordable rates.

Car Insurance Discounts

Some insurers do not list all disounts in a way that’s easy to find, so the following list contains a few of the more common and also the more inconspicuous car insurance savings. If you do not double check each discount you qualify for, you are just wasting money.

  • Discount for Life Insurance – Insurance companies who offer life insurance give better car insurancerates if you take out auto and life insurance together.
  • Discounts for Multiple Vehicles – Insuring primary and secondary vehicles on the same car insurance policy may reduce the rate for each vehicle.
  • Discount for Swiching Early – Some companies provide a discount for signing up prior to your current policy expiration. The savings is around 10%.

  • Telematics Data Discounts – Insureds who allow their insurance company to analyze where and when they drive by using a telematic data system such as Progressive’s Snapshot could see a rate decrease if their driving habits are good.

A little disclaimer on discounts, most of the big mark downs will not be given the the whole policy. Most only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as comp or med pay. Just because you may think you would end up receiving a 100% discount, car insurance companies aren’t that generous. Any qualifying discounts should help lower your policy premium.

Some companies who might offer these discounts possibly include:

How do car insurance companies determine Porsche 911 insurance premiums?

Many different elements are used when you quote your car insurance policy. Some of the criteria are obvious like your driving record, although others are not as apparent such as whether you are married or your vehicle rating. An important part of buying insurance is that you know the rating factors that go into determining the level of your policy premiums. If you know what determines premiums, this helps enable you to make changes that may reward you with lower premium levels.

  • When should you file a policy claims? – Auto insurance companies award discounts to people that do not abuse their auto insurance. If you’re an insured who likes to file claims you can look forward to much higher rates or policy non-renewal. Your car insurance is intended to be relied upon for larger claims.
  • Good drivers pay less – How you drive impacts your car insurance rates tremendously. Even a single speeding ticket or other violation can boost insurance rates substantially. • Teenagers are high risk – Drivers with little experience are proven to be easily distracted in a vehicle so they pay higher car insurance rates. More experienced drivers are more responsible, tend to cause fewer accidents , and usually have better credit.
  • Low mileage costs less – The more you drive your Porsche annually the higher the price you pay to insure it. A lot of companies apply a rate based on their usage. Autos that are left in the garage can get a lower rate than vehicles that are driven to work every day. Verify your policy reflects the correct usage for each vehicle, because it can save money. Incorrect rating for your 911 may be costing you.
  • Get cheaper rates if you’re married – Your spouse may save some money on your car insurance bill. Having a spouse means you’re more mature than a single person and it’s proven that married drivers tend to file fewer claims.

Coverages available on your car insurance policy

Knowing the specifics of car insurance can be of help when determining which coverages you need at the best deductibles and correct limits. The coverage terms in a policy can be impossible to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy. These are typical coverages available from car insurance companies.

UM/UIM Coverage

This coverage protects you and your vehicle from other drivers when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your 2003 Porsche 911.

Since many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, their limits can quickly be used up. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family.

Liability car insurance

Liability coverage provides protection from injuries or damage you cause to a person or their property that is your fault. This insurance protects YOU against claims from other people. Liability doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.

It consists of three limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see values of 50/100/50 that translate to a limit of $50,000 per injured person, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and property damage coverage for $50,000.

Liability insurance covers claims such as legal defense fees, attorney fees, funeral expenses and medical expenses. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a personal decision, but consider buying as large an amount as possible.

Comprehensive or Other Than Collision

This covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You need to pay your deductible first and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.

Comprehensive insurance covers claims like hitting a bird, vandalism and hitting a deer. The maximum payout a car insurance company will pay at claim time is the market value of your vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Medical costs insurance

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage pay for bills for things like dental work, chiropractic care, surgery, rehabilitation expenses and pain medications. They are often used in conjunction with a health insurance plan or if you do not have health coverage. It covers you and your occupants and also covers if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal Injury Protection is not universally available and may carry a deductible

Collision insurance

This pays for damage to your 911 caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. A deductible applies then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.

Collision coverage protects against things such as hitting a mailbox, colliding with another moving vehicle, hitting a parking meter and rolling your car. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Drivers also have the option to increase the deductible to save money on collision insurance.
