2004 Jaguar XJ-Series Insurance Rates – 5 Ways to Save

Finding low cost prices for insurance could be very difficult for drivers not familiar with quoting and comparing rates online. With a ridiculous number of online companies, it can turn into a real difficult job to lower your rates.

Low cost insurance prices

There are several ways to compare insurance quotes, but some are less time-consuming than others. You could spend the better part of a day talking about coverages with insurance agencies in your area, or you could save time and use the internet to maximize your effort.

Most of the best insurance companies are enrolled in a marketplace where insurance shoppers submit their information once, and each company then returns a price quote for coverage. This saves time by eliminating quotation requests to every company.

The one downside to pricing coverage this way is buyers cannot specifically choose which companies to get pricing from. So if you want to select from a list of companies to request quotes from, we have assembled a list of companies who write insurance in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.

Compare rates however you want, just do your best to use nearly identical coverage limits for every company. If you compare different coverage information it’s not possible to make a fair rate comparison. Quoting even small variations in coverages could skew the results. Keep in mind that comparing more rates from different companies helps locate the best offered rates. Not every company does online rate quotes, so it’s important to compare price quotes from them, too.

Cheaper insurance coverage rates with discounts

Some insurance providers don’t always list every possible discount very clearly, so below is a list a few of the more well known as well as the least known credits that may apply to you. If they aren’t giving you every credit you deserve, it’s possible you qualify for a lower rate.

  • Fewer Miles Equal More Savings – Maintaining low annual mileage may enable drivers to earn substantially lower prices.
  • Federal Employees – Simply working for the federal government can save as much as 8% for XJ-Series insurance with select insurance companies.
  • College Student – Children who live away from home to go to college and do not take a car to college may qualify for this discount.
  • Driver Education Discount – Teen drivers should successfully complete driver’s ed class if it’s offered in school.
  • Professional Memberships – Being in qualifying employment or professional organizations is a good way to get lower rates on your next renewal.

It’s important to note that most of the big mark downs will not be given to the overall cost of the policy. Some only apply to specific coverage prices like physical damage coverage or medical payments. So even though they make it sound like you can get free auto insurance, it just doesn’t work that way.

Tailor your insurance coverage to you

When it comes to choosing the best insurance coverage, there really is no perfect coverage plan. Everyone’s situation is unique.

Here are some questions about coverages that might point out if your situation might need professional guidance.

  • Is business equipment covered while in my vehicle?
  • Does my insurance cover my expensive audio equipment?
  • Am I covered if I hit a deer?
  • I have health insurance so do I need medical payments coverage?
  • Does my car insurance cover rental cars?
  • What if I don’t agree with a claim settlement offer?
  • Is my cargo covered for damage or theft?
  • Should I buy additional glass protection?
  • Am I covered when renting a car or should I buy coverage from the car rental agency?
  • Are rock chip repairs covered?

If you’re not sure about those questions, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, fill out this quick form.

Auto insurance advertisements

Respected companies like Progressive, Allstate and Geico seem to constantly run ads on television and other media. All the ads tend to make the same promise that drivers can save some big amount just by switching your policy. How does every auto insurance company make almost identical claims?

Insurance providers offer their best rates for the type of insured that will be a good risk. A good example of a desirable risk may need to be a mature driver, has no driving citations, and has excellent credit. Any customer that meets those criteria is entitled to the best price and as a result will probably cut their rates if they switch.

People who fall outside the ideal profile must pay a more expensive rate and this can result in the prospect going elsewhere. If you pay close attention to the ads, they say “drivers that switch” not “all people who quote” can save as much as they claim. That’s why companies can truthfully state the savings.

Different companies use different criteria so you really need to quote coverage with many companies. You cannot predict the company that will have the lowest rates.

Specifics of your car insurance policy

Knowing the specifics of your policy can help you determine the right coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Policy terminology can be ambiguous and coverage can change by endorsement.

Auto liability – This coverage protects you from injuries or damage you cause to people or other property. This coverage protects you against other people’s claims. Liability doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.

It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. Your policy might show policy limits of 100/300/100 which stand for $100,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a limit of $300,000 in injury protection per accident, and $100,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Another option is a combined limit which limits claims to one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.

Liability insurance covers claims like court costs, legal defense fees, bail bonds, pain and suffering and attorney fees. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but you should buy higher limits if possible.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage – Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle when the “other guys” either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. It can pay for hospital bills for your injuries as well as damage to your Jaguar XJ-Series.

Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Frequently your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.

Medical payments coverage and PIP – Med pay and PIP coverage kick in for expenses such as rehabilitation expenses, X-ray expenses, prosthetic devices and pain medications. They are utilized in addition to your health insurance plan or if you are not covered by health insurance. They cover not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants in addition to getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP is not an option in every state but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage

Comprehensive coverage – Comprehensive insurance coverage covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You need to pay your deductible first and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive can pay for claims such as fire damage, hitting a bird and hail damage. The maximum payout a car insurance company will pay at claim time is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Collision coverage – This coverage will pay to fix damage to your XJ-Series caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.

Collision coverage protects against claims such as sideswiping another vehicle, hitting a parking meter, backing into a parked car, rolling your car and scraping a guard rail. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Another option is to bump up the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Summing up your insurance search

When searching for the cheapest car insurance quotes, it’s very important that you do not buy lower coverage limits just to save a few bucks. There are many occasions where consumers will sacrifice physical damage coverage and found out when filing a claim that their decision to reduce coverage ended up costing them more. The proper strategy is to get the best coverage possible at the best possible price.

Cost effective 2004 Jaguar XJ-Series insurance can be purchased both online as well as from independent agents, so you need to quote car insurance with both to have the best selection.
