Comparing insurance coverage quotes online can be a challenge if you are a beginner to quoting online. But don’t just give up because we’re going to show you how.
Smart consumers take time to compare prices as often as possible since prices fluctuate regularly. Even if you think you had the lowest quotes on VUE coverage at your last renewal other companies may now be cheaper. Ignore everything you know about auto insurance because I’m going to teach you one of the quickest ways to save money, get proper coverage and the best rates.
Shopping for lower insurance rates can be challenging if you don’t utilize the easiest way. You can waste hours talking to agents in your area, or you could use the web to get rates in a matter of minutes.
Most of the best insurance companies take part in a program where prospective buyers submit their information once, and each participating company provides a quote based on that data. This prevents consumers from doing quote requests to every company. To find out what other companies charge click here (opens in new window).
The one downside to using this type of system is you don’t know exactly which companies to get quotes from. If you prefer to choose individual companies to compare, we have a listing of the cheapest insurance companies in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.
Take whichever approach you prefer, but be sure to compare the same coverage information on every quote you get. If you compare unequal deductibles or liability limits it will be very difficult to determine which company has the best rates. Even a minor difference in coverages can mean a large discrepancy in price. And when comparison shopping, having more price comparisons increases the change that you will find the best price.
Companies offering auto insurance don’t always advertise all available discounts in a way that’s easy to find, so the following is a list of both the well known and also the lesser-known credits available to lower your premiums when you buy insurance coverage online.
As a footnote on discounts, some of the credits will not apply to your bottom line cost. Some only apply to individual premiums such as physical damage coverage or medical payments. So even though they make it sound like all those discounts means the company will pay you, you aren’t that lucky.
A few of the larger companies and the discounts they provide are outlined below.
If you need lower rates, check with each company which credits you are entitled to. Discounts may not apply in your area. If you would like to see a list of companies with the best auto insurance discounts, follow this link.
When it comes to choosing coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no “best” method to buy coverage. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s.
For example, these questions could help you determine if you will benefit from professional help.
If you don’t know the answers to these questions but you know they apply to you, you might consider talking to an agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, simply complete this short form.
It’s important that you understand some of the things that help determine the price you pay for auto insurance. If you know what controls the rates you pay, this allows you to make good choices that may result in much lower annual insurance costs.
Knowing the specifics of auto insurance can be of help when determining which coverages you need for your vehicles. Auto insurance terms can be impossible to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Collision coverage – Collision coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by collision with another car or object. You have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision coverage protects against things such as hitting a parking meter, crashing into a building, sustaining damage from a pot hole and sideswiping another vehicle. This coverage can be expensive, so consider removing coverage from older vehicles. It’s also possible to raise the deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
Liability – This protects you from damage or injury you incur to a person or their property that is your fault. It protects YOU against other people’s claims, and does not provide coverage for your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Liability coverage has three limits: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You might see policy limits of 50/100/50 which means $50,000 bodily injury coverage, a total of $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and $50,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Alternatively, you may have a combined single limit or CSL that pays claims from the same limit without having the split limit caps.
Liability coverage pays for things such as repair costs for stationary objects, court costs, legal defense fees and pain and suffering. How much liability should you purchase? That is your choice, but buy as large an amount as possible.
Comprehensive coverages – This coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first must pay your deductible then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against claims such as damage from getting keyed, theft, damage from a tornado or hurricane, falling objects and hail damage. The maximum amount a auto insurance company will pay at claim time is the ACV or actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Coverage for medical payments – Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance kick in for expenses for surgery, X-ray expenses and chiropractic care. They can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. They cover all vehicle occupants in addition to being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal Injury Protection is not available in all states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Uninsured and underinsured coverage – Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants from other drivers when they do not carry enough liability coverage. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage should not be overlooked. Frequently these coverages are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
You just learned many ways to save on 2004 Saturn VUE insurance. The key thing to remember is the more times you quote, the more likely it is that you will get a better rate. Consumers could even find that the best price on car insurance is with an unexpected company.
Insureds switch companies for a number of reasons such as unfair underwriting practices, poor customer service, policy non-renewal and even policy cancellation. No matter why you want to switch, switching companies is less work than it seems.
Cost effective 2004 Saturn VUE insurance can be purchased both online and also from your neighborhood agents, so you need to quote insurance coverage with both so you have a total pricing picture. Some insurance providers may not have online price quotes and usually these regional carriers only sell through independent insurance agencies.
