Buyers have a choice when searching for low-cost Honda Insight insurance. You can either waste hours contacting agents getting price quotes or use the internet to compare rates.
There are both good and bad ways to find car insurance online so we’re going to tell you the quickest way to quote coverages on a Honda and find the cheapest rates either online or from local insurance agents.
This article will familiarize you with how car insurance quotes work. If you currently have car insurance, you stand a good chance to be able to cut costs considerably using these techniques. Drivers just need to know how to shop for car insurance on the web.
Insurance can cost an arm and a leg, but you might already qualify for some discounts that can dramatically reduce your bill. Some discounts will apply when you purchase, but a few must be asked about prior to receiving the credit.
Please keep in mind that most of the big mark downs will not be given to all coverage premiums. Most cut the price of certain insurance coverages like collision or personal injury protection. So when it seems like having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, you’re out of luck.
Some of the insurance companies that may offer policyholders these benefits include:
Before you buy a policy, ask each company how many discounts you can get. Discounts might not be offered everywhere. If you would like to choose from a list of insurance coverage companies that have a full spectrum of discounts, click here.
There are a variety of methods to shop for car insurance, but there is one way that is less time-consuming than others. You can waste a few hours (or days) talking about coverages with local insurance agents in your area, or you could use online quotes to accomplish the same thing much quicker.
The majority of car insurance companies take part in a program where insurance shoppers submit their information once, and at least one company provides a quote based on that data. This eliminates the need for quote forms to each company.

The single downside to doing it this way is you don’t know exactly the companies to get pricing from. So if you want to select individual companies to compare rates, we have a listing of companies who write car insurance in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.
It doesn’t matter which method you choose, just ensure you are comparing nearly identical deductibles and coverage limits for each comparison quote. If you enter different values for each quote you will not be able to make an equal comparison.
When choosing coverage, there really is no “best” method to buy coverage. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s.
Here are some questions about coverages that may help highlight if you may require specific advice.
If you can’t answer these questions but you know they apply to you, you may need to chat with an insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, simply complete this short form. It’s fast, free and can help protect your family.
Having a good grasp of your auto insurance policy aids in choosing the best coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Auto insurance terms can be impossible to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording.
Collision coverage protection
Collision insurance will pay to fix damage to your Insight caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision can pay for things such as sideswiping another vehicle, rolling your car and hitting a mailbox. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from lower value vehicles. You can also bump up the deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
Liability insurance
This can cover injuries or damage you cause to people or other property by causing an accident. This coverage protects you against claims from other people. Liability doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.
It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. You commonly see policy limits of 50/100/50 that translate to $50,000 bodily injury coverage, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property. Occasionally you may see a combined limit that pays claims from the same limit and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability coverage pays for things like legal defense fees, repair bills for other people’s vehicles, medical services and attorney fees. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is up to you, but consider buying higher limits if possible.
Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance reimburse you for immediate expenses for X-ray expenses, doctor visits, ambulance fees, hospital visits and dental work. The coverages can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. It covers both the driver and occupants in addition to any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP is only offered in select states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM)
This gives you protection from other motorists when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. This coverage pays for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since a lot of drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is a good idea. Most of the time these coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.
Comprehensive insurance
This coverage will pay to fix damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You need to pay your deductible first and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage pays for claims such as hail damage, a tree branch falling on your vehicle, damage from getting keyed, vandalism and damage from flooding. The maximum amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the cash value of the vehicle, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Drivers switch companies for any number of reasons including not issuing a premium refund, denial of a claim, delays in paying claims and unfair underwriting practices. Regardless of your reason for switching companies, finding a new auto insurance company can be less work than you think.
When shopping online for auto insurance, never buy less coverage just to save a little money. There are a lot of situations where drivers have reduced comprehensive coverage or liability limits and learned later that the few dollars in savings costed them thousands. Your focus should be to purchase plenty of coverage at a price you can afford, but do not skimp to save money.
