Compare 2007 Chevrolet Impala Insurance Quotes

Looking for better auto insurance rates for your Chevrolet Impala? Trying to come up with a payment for overpriced auto insurance can sap your savings account and force you to tighten up your finances. Comparing rate quotes is an excellent way to tighten up your finances.

Popular companies such as State Farm, Geico and Farmers Insurance continually bombard you with ad campaigns and it is challenging if not impossible to ignore the propoganda and take the time to shop coverage around.

If you have car insurance now, you should be able to cut costs considerably using this information. Finding affordable coverage is quite easy. Although consumers can benefit from knowing the way companies price insurance differently and use this information to your advantage.

Insurance quotes comparison

Effectively comparing insurance prices can be a lot of work if you don’t understand the easiest way. You can waste a few hours (or days) talking about coverages with insurance agencies in your area, or you could use online quotes to quickly compare rates.

Most major companies belong to a marketplace where prospective buyers only type in their quote data once, and each participating company then gives them pricing. This system prevents you from having to do repetitive form submissions for every insurance company.

To submit your quote information now, click here (opens in new window).

The only drawback to using this type of form is you cannot specify which insurance companies you want to price. If you wish to select individual companies to request quotes from, we have a listing of companies who write insurance in your area. Click here to view list.

Whichever way you use, make darn sure you compare the exact same coverage limits and deductibles with every price quote. If the quotes have higher or lower deductibles it’s impossible to determine which company has the best rates. Just slight variations in limits can make a big difference in price. It’s important to know that comparing all the rates in your area gives you a better chance of getting lower pricing. Some insurance companies are not set up to provide online rate quotes, so it’s necessary to compare price estimates from those companies as well.

Car insurance discounts help reduce rates

Buying car insurance is not cheap, but there may be some discounts to help offset the cost. Certain discounts will be applied when you get a quote, but a few must be specifically requested before you will receive the discount.

  • Sign Online – Some car insurance companies will give you a small discount for buying your policy online.
  • Use Seat Belts – Requiring all passengers to buckle their seat belts can save up to 15% on the medical payments or PIP coverage costs.
  • ABS and Traction Control Discounts – Cars with anti-lock braking systems can avoid accidents so you can save 10 percent or more.
  • Multi-line Discount – Not all insurance companies offer life insurance, but some may give you better rates if you take out auto and life insurance together.
  • Homeowners Savings – Just being a homeowner can get you a discount because maintaining a house is proof of financial responsibility.
  • Student in College – Kids who live away from home to go to college and won’t have access to an insured vehicle may be able to be covered for less.

It’s important to understand that most discounts do not apply to the entire policy premium. Most only apply to the cost of specific coverages such as collision or personal injury protection. Even though it may seem like having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, it doesn’t quite work that way.

A list of car insurance companies and some of their more popular discounts are shown below.

  • State Farm may include discounts for accident-free, good driver, multiple policy, driver’s education, good student, and defensive driving training.
  • Geico offers premium reductions for emergency military deployment, military active duty, multi-vehicle, driver training, and five-year accident-free.
  • Allstate offers discounts including premier plus, anti-lock brakes, teenSMART discount, resident student, good student, eSmart discount, and defensive driver.
  • SAFECO policyholders can earn discounts including bundle discounts, safe driver, teen safe driver, teen safety rewards, anti-lock brakes, and anti-theft.
  • Farm Bureau offers discounts for multi-vehicle, 55 and retired, safe driver, renewal discount, good student, and youthful driver.
  • Progressive has discounts for online quote discount, homeowner, continuous coverage, good student, multi-vehicle, online signing, and multi-policy.
  • AAA may have discounts that include multi-policy, multi-car, good student, education and occupation, anti-theft, AAA membership discount, and good driver.

When quoting, ask all the companies what discounts are available to you. Some of the earlier mentioned discounts may not apply to policyholders everywhere. To see a list of car insurance companies who offer cheap car insurance quotes, click here to view.

Which is the best auto insurance?

When buying the right insurance coverage, there isn’t really a “perfect” insurance plan. Coverage needs to be tailored to your specific needs so your insurance needs to address that. Here are some questions about coverages that might point out whether your personal situation could use an agent’s help.

  • How much underlying liability do I need for an umbrella policy?
  • Is borrowed equipment or tools covered if stolen or damaged?
  • Should I buy full coverage?
  • Can I still get insurance after a DUI?
  • Does my policy cover my teen driver if they drive my company car?
  • Does my insurance cover a custom paint job?

If it’s difficult to answer those questions but one or more may apply to you, then you may want to think about talking to an agent. To find an agent in your area, fill out this quick form or click here for a list of auto insurance companies in your area.

Car insurance coverages 101

Learning about specific coverages of car insurance can help you determine appropriate coverage for your vehicles. Car insurance terms can be ambiguous and coverage can change by endorsement. These are the normal coverages offered by car insurance companies.

Auto liability insurance – Liability coverage can cover damage that occurs to other’s property or people. It protects YOU against other people’s claims, and does not provide coverage for damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.

It consists of three limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see liability limits of 25/50/25 which means a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, $50,000 for the entire accident, and a limit of $25,000 paid for damaged property. Occasionally you may see one number which is a combined single limit which combines the three limits into one amount with no separate limits for injury or property damage.

Liability can pay for claims like loss of income, repair costs for stationary objects, medical services and pain and suffering. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a decision to put some thought into, but you should buy higher limits if possible.

Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance – Your UM/UIM coverage provides protection from other drivers when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as damage to your Chevy Impala.

Since a lot of drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Normally these coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.

Insurance for medical payments – Med pay and PIP coverage reimburse you for bills such as doctor visits, hospital visits, funeral costs and ambulance fees. They can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance program or if you do not have health coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and also covers if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP coverage is not available in all states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay

Collision coverage – Collision insurance covers damage to your Impala resulting from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible then your collision coverage will kick in.

Collision coverage protects against claims like sideswiping another vehicle, scraping a guard rail and colliding with another moving vehicle. This coverage can be expensive, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. You can also choose a higher deductible to save money on collision insurance.

Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision) – Comprehensive insurance pays for damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive can pay for things like falling objects, hail damage and hitting a deer. The maximum payout you’ll receive from a claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Pennies from heaven

Cheap 2007 Chevy Impala insurance is available from both online companies as well as from insurance agents, and you should be comparing both so you have a total pricing picture. Some companies may not provide the ability to get a quote online and usually these smaller providers sell through independent insurance agencies.

While you’re price shopping online, make sure you don’t buy poor coverage just to save money. Too many times, drivers have reduced collision coverage only to regret at claim time that the few dollars in savings costed them thousands. The proper strategy is to buy enough coverage at an affordable rate, but do not skimp to save money.
