Paying for expensive Mercury Sable insurance can deplete your checking account and make it tough to pay other bills. Doing a rate analysis can help to tighten up your finances.
Having so many online and local companies to choose from, it can be challenging to locate a more affordable company.
When looking for cheap auto insurance quotes, there are a couple ways to compare rate quotes from many available auto insurance companies in your state. The best way to find competitive Mercury Sable insurance rates is to use the internet to compare rates. This can be done in a couple minutes as outlined below.
The easiest and least time consuming way consumers can make multiple comparisons is a comparison rater form (click to open form in new window). This type of form saves time by eliminating separate quotation requests for each price estimate. One quote request will return price quotes from multiple low-cost companies.
A slightly less efficient method to find better pricing is to take the time to go to each company’s website and repeat the quote process again and again. For sake of this example, we’ll assume you want to compare Progressive, Liberty Mutual and State Farm. To get each rate you have to spend time going to each site individually to input your insurance information, which is why the first method is quicker. It’s your choice how you get your quotes, but ensure you’re using nearly identical coverage data for each comparison quote. If your comparisons have different limits and deductibles on each one it will be impossible to determine which rate is truly the best. Just a small difference in insurance coverages can result in a big premium difference. Just keep in mind that comparing more rates from different companies helps locate more affordable insurance.
Car insurance companies don’t necessarily list their entire list of discounts in a way that’s easy to find, so the following is a list of some of the more common as well as some of the hidden discounts that may be available.
While discounts sound great, it’s important to understand that some credits don’t apply to your bottom line cost. Most cut the cost of specific coverages such as liability, collision or medical payments. So even though you would think all those discounts means the company will pay you, it’s just not the way it works. Any qualifying discounts will definitely reduce the cost of your policy.
A list of car insurance companies and a partial list of their discounts are included below.
Before buying, ask all companies you are considering which credits you are entitled to. Depending on the company, some discounts may not apply to policies in your state. To view insurance companies with significant discounts, follow this link.
When it comes to buying coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no best way to insure your cars. Every situation is different and a cookie cutter policy won’t apply. For example, these questions can aid in determining whether or not you would benefit from professional advice.
If you’re not sure about those questions but a few of them apply, you might consider talking to an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, take a second and complete this form or click here for a list of car insurance companies in your area.
Understanding the coverages of a insurance policy helps when choosing the best coverages for your vehicles. Policy terminology can be ambiguous and reading a policy is terribly boring. Shown next are the normal coverages offered by insurance companies.
Uninsured or underinsured coverage
Your UM/UIM coverage provides protection from other drivers when they either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered losses include injuries to you and your family as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since many drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. So UM/UIM coverage is a good idea. Frequently these limits are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Collision insurance
Collision coverage pays for damage to your Sable resulting from a collision with another car or object. A deductible applies then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision coverage protects against things like colliding with another moving vehicle, sustaining damage from a pot hole and sideswiping another vehicle. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider removing coverage from lower value vehicles. You can also increase the deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
Medical expense coverage
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage reimburse you for bills like surgery, rehabilitation expenses and EMT expenses. They can be used in conjunction with a health insurance plan or if you do not have health coverage. It covers not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants as well as any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not available in all states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Liability auto insurance
This provides protection from damage that occurs to people or other property. This coverage protects you from claims by other people. Liability doesn’t cover damage to your own property or vehicle.
It consists of three limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see liability limits of 50/100/50 that translate to $50,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and a total limit of $50,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Occasionally you may see one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which combines the three limits into one amount with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability can pay for claims such as medical services, emergency aid, attorney fees, legal defense fees and loss of income. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is your choice, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
Comprehensive protection
Comprehensive insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You need to pay your deductible first then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims such as damage from flooding, fire damage and theft. The maximum payout you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.

Nice post. Got a quote with Eastwood for my Sable and cut my rates about $110 a year. I get lower rates because of my clean driving record.

If you don’t have tickets and live near Fort Wayne, Indiana, check out State Farm. You might save some money. Left AIG Insurance to switch. I’m a pretty low risk driver. Not sure if rates are cheaper online or not.
