Beginners to comparing auto insurance quotes on the internet may find sourcing cheaper auto insurance is harder than it needs to be.
You need to check insurance prices at least once a year because insurance rates are adjusted regularly by insurance companies. Despite the fact that you may have had the lowest rate on Continental GTC coverage on your last policy you can probably find a better price now. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about insurance because I’m going to let you in on the secrets to the right way to buy cheaper insurance.
When shopping for low cost auto insurance quotes, there are a couple of ways to obtain and compare prices from companies that offer car insurance in your state. By far the easiest way to compare rates consists of shopping online. This can be accomplished in just a few minutes using one of these methods.
It’s up to you which method you use, but do your best to use exactly the same coverages for each price quote. If you are comparing mixed coverages you will not be able to make an equal comparison. Slightly different limits can make a big difference in price. And when quoting car insurance, remember that comparing a large number of companies helps locate more affordable rates. Some insurance companies are not set up to provide rate quotes online, so you should also compare rates from them as well.
When it comes to choosing coverage, there is no “perfect” insurance plan. Everyone’s needs are different.
Here are some questions about coverages that can help discover if your insurance needs would benefit from professional advice.
If you don’t know the answers to these questions but a few of them apply, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, simply complete this short form.
Understanding the coverages of your auto insurance policy can be of help when determining appropriate coverage for your vehicles. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Protection from uninsured/underinsured drivers
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle from other motorists when they do not carry enough liability coverage. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and also any damage incurred to your Bentley Continental GTC.
Since many drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. So UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked. Normally your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Comprehensive (Other than Collision)
This will pay to fix damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You need to pay your deductible first and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against claims such as hitting a bird, a broken windshield, vandalism and a tree branch falling on your vehicle. The highest amount your auto insurance company will pay is the actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Liability insurance
This coverage provides protection from injuries or damage you cause to a person or their property that is your fault. It protects YOU from claims by other people. Liability doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. You might see policy limits of 25/50/25 that means you have $25,000 bodily injury coverage, $50,000 for the entire accident, and property damage coverage for $25,000. Some companies may use one number which is a combined single limit which limits claims to one amount with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability insurance covers claims like medical services, funeral expenses and structural damage. How much liability should you purchase? That is a decision to put some thought into, but you should buy as much as you can afford.
Medical expense insurance
Med pay and PIP coverage kick in for short-term medical expenses such as EMT expenses, prosthetic devices, dental work and nursing services. They are often used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. They cover both the driver and occupants and will also cover getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP is not universally available but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Collision protection
This covers damage to your Continental GTC caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. A deductible applies and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision insurance covers claims such as hitting a mailbox, driving through your garage door, scraping a guard rail, crashing into a ditch and sideswiping another vehicle. This coverage can be expensive, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from vehicles that are older. Another option is to choose a higher deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
