2016 Jeep Renegade Insurance Cost – 10 Tips for Cheaper Prices

Looking for the cheapest auto insurance rates for your Jeep Renegade? Are you burned out from not being able to scrape enough together to insure your Jeep every month? You have the same problem as many other vehicle owners.

Multiple auto insurance companies compete to insure your vehicles, so it’s not easy to compare every insurer to find the best price available.

You should make it a habit to compare premium rates as often as possible since prices are rarely the same from one policy term to another. If you had the best deal for Renegade insurance at your last renewal you may be paying too much now. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about auto insurance because we’re going to show you one of the best ways to reduce your cost while increasing coverage.

If you have car insurance now, you should be able to save some money using these tips. Buying car insurance is not that difficult. Nevertheless, car owners must know the way insurance companies sell online.

Cheapest car insurance price quotes

Comparing car insurance rates is a ton of work if you aren’t aware of the easiest way. You could spend the better part of a day discussing policy coverages with local insurance agents in your area, or you can utilize online quoting to maximize your effort.

Many companies participate in an industry program that enables customers to complete one form, and at least one company can give them a price determined by their information. This system prevents you from having to do quotation requests to each company.

The only downside to comparing rates this way is you cannot specify the companies to get pricing from. So if you want to select specific providers to compare rates, we have assembled a list of car insurance companies in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.

How you compare quotes is your choice, just do your best to enter apples-to-apples coverage data for each quote you get. If your comparisons have different liability limits it will be next to impossible to determine the lowest rate for your Jeep Renegade. Quoting even small variations in insurance coverages may cause a big price difference. It’s important to know that obtaining a wide range of quotes will increase your chances of finding better pricing. Some companies don’t provide prices over the internet, so it’s necessary to compare prices from them as well.

Save money with these ten discounts

Car insurance companies don’t list all available discounts in an easy-to-find place, so the below list has a few of the more common and the more hidden discounts you could be receiving when you buy insurance online.

  • Life Insurance – Not all insurance companies offer life insurance, but some may give you a lower premium rate if you buy life insurance.
  • Policy Bundle Discount – If you can combine your home and auto policy and insure them with the same company you could save 10% to 20% off each policy.
  • Claim Free – Drivers who don’t have accidents can save substantially as compared to frequent claim filers.
  • Student Driver Training – Require your teen driver to successfully complete driver’s ed class in school or through a local driver safety program.
  • Government Employees – Federal government employees can save as much as 8% for Renegade insurance depending on your insurance provider.
  • Seat Belts Save more than Lives – Forcing all vehicle occupants to use a seat belt may be able to save a few bucks on the premium charged for medical payments and/or PIP.
  • Multiple Cars – Buying a policy with multiple vehicles on a single policy can reduce rates for all insured vehicles.
  • E-sign Discounts</strong – A few larger online companies will give a small break just for signing your application on the web.
  • Anti-lock Brake Discount – Cars with ABS and/or traction control have fewer accidents so companies give up to a 10% discount.
  • Full Payment Discount – If paying your policy premium upfront instead of monthly or quarterly installments you could save 5% or more.

It’s important to note that many deductions do not apply to all coverage premiums. Some only reduce individual premiums such as comprehensive or collision. Even though the math looks like having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, insurance companies aren’t that generous. But all discounts should help lower the premium cost.

Companies and some of the premium reductions they offer are:

  • Geico offers premium reductions for federal employee, seat belt use, military active duty, daytime running lights, and driver training.
  • MetLife offers discounts including accident-free, good driver, defensive driver, multi-policy, good student, claim-free
  • Progressive has savings for online signing, good student, multi-policy, homeowner, online quote discount, continuous coverage, and multi-vehicle.
  • Travelers includes discounts for home ownership, early quote, IntelliDrive, multi-policy, and good student.
  • SAFECO policyholders can earn discounts including accident prevention training, safe driver, bundle discounts, teen safe driver, and homeowner.
  • AAA may include discounts for pay-in-full, good student, multi-car, AAA membership discount, good driver, and education and occupation.

Before buying, ask each company or agent which discounts they offer. Some discounts listed above may not be offered in your area.

Insurance can be complex

When buying the best insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is not a single plan that fits everyone. Every situation is different so your insurance should reflect that For example, these questions could help you determine if you would benefit from professional advice.

  • Should I file a claim if it’s only slightly more than my deductible?
  • If my 2016 Jeep Renegade is totaled, can I afford another vehicle?
  • Am I covered when delivering products for my home-based business?
  • What if I don’t agree with a claim settlement offer?
  • Does my 2016 Jeep Renegade need full coverage?
  • What exactly is covered by my policy?

If you’re not sure about those questions but a few of them apply then you might want to talk to an agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or click here for a list of insurance companies in your area.

Insurance policy specifics

Learning about specific coverages of your policy can be of help when determining the right coverages and the correct deductibles and limits. Policy terminology can be confusing and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. Below you’ll find the normal coverages found on the average insurance policy.

Collision coverage

Collision coverage will pay to fix damage to your Renegade caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. A deductible applies then your collision coverage will kick in.

Collision can pay for things like scraping a guard rail, crashing into a ditch, driving through your garage door, rolling your car and crashing into a building. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Another option is to raise the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM)

This coverage provides protection when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.

Because many people only carry the minimum required liability limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked. Frequently these coverages do not exceed the liability coverage limits.

Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance kick in for bills for things like X-ray expenses, prosthetic devices, nursing services, rehabilitation expenses and chiropractic care. They are used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. It covers not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and also covers any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP coverage is only offered in select states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage

Comprehensive insurance

Comprehensive insurance pays for damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You need to pay your deductible first and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.

Comprehensive coverage pays for things such as vandalism, damage from flooding and rock chips in glass. The highest amount you’ll receive from a claim is the actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Coverage for liability

This protects you from injuries or damage you cause to people or other property by causing an accident. Liability coverage has three limits: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. Your policy might show policy limits of 100/300/100 which means $100,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a total of $300,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and property damage coverage for $100,000. Some companies may use one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which combines the three limits into one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.

Liability coverage protects against things such as emergency aid, bail bonds and loss of income. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a personal decision, but consider buying higher limits if possible.
