Looking for the cheapest auto insurance rates? Shoppers have lots of choices when shopping for affordable Nissan Frontier insurance. They can either waste time struggling with agents to get rate comparisons or save time using the internet to compare rates.
There is a better way to shop for auto insurance and we’ll show you the best way to price shop coverage on a Nissan and locate the best price possible from local insurance agents and online providers.
Companies offering auto insurance don’t necessarily list every discount very well, so the following is a list of a few of the more well known in addition to some of the lesser obvious car insurance savings.
You can save money using discounts, but most discounts do not apply to the entire policy premium. The majority will only reduce individual premiums such as collision or personal injury protection. Just because it seems like you could get a free car insurance policy, it just doesn’t work that way.
A list of companies and their possible discounts are outlined below.
If you need lower rates, check with each company or agent which credits you are entitled to. A few discounts may not apply to policies in your area. For a list of providers that offer some of these discounts, click this link.
There are a lot of ways to compare insurance coverage prices but one way is more efficient than others. You can waste hours talking to insurance agencies in your area, or you could use online quoting to get rates in a matter of minutes.
Many of the larger companies are enrolled in a marketplace where insurance shoppers only type in their quote data once, and each company provides a quote based on that information. This saves time by eliminating quote requests for each company you want a rate for. To access this free quoting program, click here to start a free quote.
The one disadvantage to using this type of system is you cannot specify the insurers to get pricing from. So if you prefer to pick from a list of companies to compare rates, we have a page of the cheapest insurance coverage companies in your area. Click here to view list.
It doesn’t matter which method you choose, just make sure you compare apples-to-apples quote information with every price quote. If you are comparing different liability limits you can’t possibly get a fair rate comparison.
When it comes to buying proper insurance coverage for your vehicles, there really is no cookie cutter policy. Everyone’s situation is unique.
These are some specific questions may help you determine whether your personal situation could use an agent’s help.
If you don’t know the answers to these questions but a few of them apply, you may need to chat with an insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, simply complete this short form. It is quick, free and can provide invaluable advice.
Having a good grasp of your auto insurance policy can help you determine the right coverages for your vehicles. The terms used in a policy can be difficult to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording.
Liability insurance
Liability coverage protects you from damage or injury you incur to other’s property or people that is your fault. This coverage protects you against claims from other people. Liability doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Liability coverage has three limits: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. You might see limits of 50/100/50 which means $50,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and property damage coverage for $50,000. Alternatively, you may have a combined single limit or CSL that pays claims from the same limit with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability coverage pays for things such as emergency aid, bail bonds, pain and suffering and attorney fees. How much liability should you purchase? That is a personal decision, but consider buying as high a limit as you can afford.
Insurance for medical payments
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage provide coverage for short-term medical expenses like surgery, ambulance fees, funeral costs and chiropractic care. They are used to fill the gap from your health insurance plan or if you do not have health coverage. It covers all vehicle occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal injury protection coverage is only offered in select states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Collision coverage protection
This coverage will pay to fix damage to your Frontier from colliding with another car or object. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision insurance covers claims like backing into a parked car, scraping a guard rail, hitting a mailbox, colliding with a tree and colliding with another moving vehicle. This coverage can be expensive, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from vehicles that are older. Drivers also have the option to increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance
This coverage protects you and your vehicle when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. This coverage pays for medical payments for you and your occupants and also any damage incurred to your Nissan Frontier.
Since many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Frequently the UM/UIM limits are set the same as your liablity limits.
Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision)
This coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first have to pay a deductible then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims like theft, hitting a deer, damage from getting keyed, damage from a tornado or hurricane and damage from flooding. The maximum amount you’ll receive from a claim is the cash value of the vehicle, so if the vehicle’s value is low consider dropping full coverage.
Lower-priced insurance is possible from both online companies as well as from independent agents, so get free insurance coverage quotes from both of them in order to have the best chance of saving money. Some companies do not offer the ability to get a quote online and these smaller providers sell through independent agents.
As you shop your coverage around, it’s not a good idea to skimp on coverage in order to save money. There have been many situations where an insured dropped liability coverage limits and learned later they didn’t purchase enough coverage. The goal is to buy a smart amount of coverage at a price you can afford and still be able to protect your assets.

Great site. From a town just southwest of Allentown, PA. Went online for free insurance quotes for a 2012 Nissan Frontier. Ended up at about $270 savings annually. Went with Progressive. Left GEICO to switch. I have a teen driver too. Hardly afford to drive anymore.
